Barwon Health has won a top public healthcare award from the Brumby Labor Government for an innovative project that has successfully replaced traditional paper medical records with digital records.
Health Minister Daniel Andrews presented the service with Gold for the Delivering Sustainable and Efficient Healthcare Services Award at the 2010 Victorian Public Healthcare Awards in Melbourne last week.
“Now in their sixth year, these awards celebrate quality, innovation and excellence in our public health system.” Mr Andrews said.
The Delivering Sustainable and Efficient Healthcare Services Award recognises health services that have made successful improvements and innovations to help the organisation respond to current and future challenges.
Barwon Health was honoured for improving information availability through its Digital Medical Record Project. Core Medical Solutions are the provider of BOSSnet DMR which is the system that Barwon Health have implemented in order to achieve their goal of replacing traditional paper medical records.
“Moving to digital format required significant training for personnel, including all clinical staff and was rolled out over 12 months,” Mr Andrews continued, “the project will continue to deliver significant clinical and business benefits, positioning Barwon Health as a leader across the Australian health sector.”
A record 310 entries were submitted from health services across Victoria. |
